I sometimes wonder if we'd all be happier if we still believed that our lives were predetermined by three old crones measuring and cutting string in some cave somewhere.

(Only part of this essay I disagree with is the "much better" part...otherwise FIVE STARS, NO NOTES!)

I once missed getting hit by a train by a few feet. Completely clueless while riding my bike with headphones on listening to music, in my own little bubble. I road across the tracks without thinking and seconds later, whoosh, I felt the wind as a train went flying by. I was in complete shock. Great timing!

Life, it’s all timing…Summer of Love, 1967… I had just graduated from college and was supposed to join my college boyfriend (photographer/art major) in San Francisco, but I had just gotten a job which I desired (and needed) in the executive training program of a major NYC department store. I begged off going to SF until after I completed the training program since then I would be able to transfer my new skills to another branch in SF. The first day of the training program I met Peter and, as the saying goes, the rest is history. The SF boyfriend became a well-known photographer, but I got all of you! Timing is everything and life worked out just fine!

There is so much to like in your writing, it is hard to pinpoint one thing. I will say however, that (I love you Mom and Dad) and the fact that you want to be a speechwriter impress me. Good job Holly. From one writer to another, good f****** job. I look forward to reading and writing more.
